R&D Strategy:
Respond Fast, Keep Pacesetting is the tenet that Italina Fashion Jewelry (Zhongshan) Co., Ltd. sticks to in R&D. R&D activities are carried out by virtue of technical innovation and design innovation. The concepts of Market-Oriented Technical Innovation and High-Quality, High Value Added Design Innovation are upheld from the introduction of technologies and human talents to independent innovation by integration of domestic and overseas resources. We aim at setting the fashion by technical innovation and then lead the fashion of the industry. In the course of implementation, we arrange for our R&D team to participate regularly in Swarovski¡¯s theme design press conferences; we worked together with Shanghai Donghua University to set up Donghua Research and Design Center and sponsor regular R&D exchanges and design contests; in our DIY industrial tourism project (the first theme cultural park in China), we presented jewelry design and making process to allow tourists an understanding of jewelry history and culture and inspire them for creative thinking. We carried out campaigns like Jewelry DIY and Consumer-Manufacturer Dialogue to collect first-hand information, pioneer fashion design and bring our trendy jewelry products further in both domestic and overseas markets.

Development Planning:
In order to expand the production capacity, Italina is building the second phase 80,000m2 manufacturing center in Shenwan Township, Zhongshan and will put it into operation at the end of 2005. Registered with the approval of Zhongshan Environment Protection Bureau, Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Bureau and Industry and Commerce Administration, a large surface finishing and processing center will be constructed by joint investment with Zhongshan Guzhen Economic Development Co., Ltd. in Guzhen, Zhongshan, covering 135,000m2 with a workshop floor area of 120,000m2. According to the company¡¯s development program, Italina will have an output value of more than 1 billion RMB and a headcount of more than 12,000 in 2008.
